Create Declaration - Introduction

All Declarations to be submitted to Customs can vary according to the country of destination, the transportation mode, and the duration of transportation carrying the goods into the customs territory.

For Great Britain, below are the details of when declarations should be submitted:

Maritime Containerised Cargo (excluding short sea containerised cargo) - At least 24hours before loading onto the vessel that will carry the goods into Great Britain or Northern Ireland

Bulk/break bulk maritime cargo (except shortsea bulk/break bulk shipping - At least 4 hours before arrival at the office of first entry in Great Britain or Northern Ireland.

Short sea shipping - At least 2 hours before the arrival office of first entry in Great Britain or Northern Ireland

Short haul flights (less than 4 hours in duration) - At least at the time of the actual take off

Long haul flights (more than 4 hours in duration) - At least 4 hours before arrival at the office of first entry in Great Britain or Northern Ireland

Rail - At least 2 hours before arrival at the UK customs Office of Entry or at least 1 hour if the journey is less than 2 hours

We recommend you allow extra time as it can take a while to receive a response, or if in case the declaration is rejected, by Customs and any amendments are required.

To create a new Safety & Security Declaration, Users can click the "Create New Declaration" (highlighted below) from the S&S Dashboard.

This opens the new declaration screen for user to add information required to submit declarations.

As earlier stated, If the new declaration contains a lot of similar data to an entry that's been summitted previously, the copy declaration function can apply before user proceed to add the relevant details.
